Sacred ragas is a spiritual journey from the heart of Australia to the kingdom of bliss or “sat chit ananda”,  a Sanskrit word describing our true nature. 

Written, arranged and produced by Vicki Hansen and Ron Ragel and based on traditional Indian music, Sacred Ragas showcases the beauty and sanctity of Vicki's vocals, blended with traditional and contemporary instruments and sounds.

Inspired by Vicki's experience in post-tsunami Sri Lanka.   A deeply relaxing and meditative album, featuring the hypnotic beat of the shaman drum, flutes, didgeridoo and healing Vedic chants.  Shaman Woman will take you to beautifully peaceful place within the heart, allowing the ‘medicine’ of its music to heal and uplift.

"Shaman Woman appeared to me as the healing force of Nature; Shamans are traditionally so connected to the natural world; it is the Shaman Woman energy that is sorely and desperately needed in the world today. I have always loved being in Nature; my spirit literally aches to see its’ abuse and destruction.  It is through music, somehow, that I express this deep love and appreciation; it is the expression of divinity that is in Nature that I attempt to bring to music.     My intention, always, is to uplift and heal."

'RIVER OF OM'    SACRED SOUND  MEDITATION

A 45 minute meditative CD that traces the River of OM back to its source. Take a journey of sound through the chakras. From guided meditations to Vedic and Buddhist mantras, Prayers in Aramaic and English.

The writings provide an understanding of the characteristics of consciousness, the omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient universal energy, as the agent that makes enlightenment possible. It directs the reader to keep looking inward; to live a contemplative life of self-enquiry and examination. In the end the Understanding reveals itself as one reaches the realms of the mystic in a humility that is at once transcendent and sublime.

"We suspected there was more music available from the Australian artist who had made the classic “Earth Heart” nearly ten years ago. And surely there is! “Children of the Sun” is a global music celebration based on a stage show that Vicki had been commissioned to provide music for. Half of the ten tracks feature only Vicki, playing keyboards, didgeridoo, voice, dun dun, cowbell, zils and flute. On the other half, she is joined by Blair Greenberg and Peter Kennard, collectively playing drums, congas, djembe, tabla, frame drum, timbale, darbuka & assorted percussion sounds. Obviously it's rhythmic, but not without layers of atmosphere and textures to move in and around the steady yet varying beats.
